Tulipe Noire in the Community
Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC)
September 30, 2024 was the fourth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day provides an opportunity to recognize and commemorate the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools, and to honour survivors, their families and communities.
Annually, Tulipe Noire donates 100% of their sales for September 30 to the Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC).
Kari also supports the VNFC with an annual toy drive. Drop off new unwrapped toys, games, craft supplies for kids 3-12 in store from November 15 to December 20, each year.
Kari is a proud Metis Cree woman, and is especially proud to serve the Victoria Native Friendship Centre as Director of Community Engagement & Fund Development. Her responsibility is to educate the corporate community in meeting the Call to Action #92. Improving the lives of urban Indigenous first peoples is her purpose here on this earth.
Kari believe that everyone needs a place to call home. Everyone deserves to be housed, to be fed, to be healthy, accepted, and valued.
These are the values that guide Kari's work and my life ~ from CEO of Tulipe Noire Clothing Inc. to the role of Community Engagement and Fund Development Director at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC).
Kari is starting a monthly donation campaign at VNFC - her goal is 500 donors at $25-$100 a month to make a serious jump in funds for food security. Join Kari in reaching her goals, reach out today or head to the VFNC website to learn how you can contribute.
The Mustard Seed
Tulipe Noire is proud to support the Victoria Mustard Seed. Year round, we have a donation bin in front of our store, where we encourage the community to donate any non-perishable food, clothing and personal care products for those in need.

Recently, Tulipe Noire was proud to participate in the Man & His Dog Fashion Show with Outlooks for Men. It was a fun evening in support of a wonderful cause!
Glow Gala 2025
Glow, a glamorous Gala fundraiser for Victoria Women’s Transition House, was an evening of elegance, creativity and connection. We celebrated the courage and resilience of women and children impacted by intimate partner violence while raising funds for an important community organization.
Guests enjoyed a stunning three-course plated dinner alongside a showcase of fashion, food, music, and art in a setting as inspiring as the cause is uplifting. The evening included a three-course plated dinner, entertainment, silent and live auctions, and fund-a-need – an opportunity for guests to support an identified program or project at Victoria Women’s Transition House. The Welcome Reception was sponsored by Tulipe Noire Clothing. Check out this amazing video from the event!

Symphony Splash is Back!
Kari McLay, owner of Tulipe Noire, is involved in fundraising for this spectacular event. Symphony Splash will take place this year, August 2-3, with premium seats available over this two-day event.
Kari is proud to align with the Victoria Symphony and Victoria Native Friendship Centre in fundraising for various levels of sponsorship for this harmonious community event.
You are invited to join a movement that’s creating a ripple of positive change in our community: Community in Harmony.
This summer, Symphony Splash and the Victoria Native Friendship Centre are coming together for an extraordinary two-day festival in Victoria’s Inner Harbour—an event that will bring over 200,000 people together in the spirit of music, culture, and youth empowerment. The festival will feature an Indigenous opening ceremony, contemporary Indigenous musicians, and the full Victoria Symphony—all sharing the stage in celebration of community and reconciliation in action.
We’re seeking Community in Harmony Sponsors—businesses, organizations, and individuals who share our vision of empowering Indigenous youth through music and community engagement. Your support will directly fund Indigenous youth programming and cultural initiatives at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Community in Harmony Band of Heroes Sponsorship
Become a Community in Harmony Sponsor for $2000 and receive two VIP Band of Heroes seats with premium comfort seating for the two-day Symphony Splash event. Seating includes the Opening Ceremony, and live music all day and night - including both afternoon and evening concerts.
As a sponsor, you will receive a tax-deductible receipt for your contribution, along with recognition in event marketing, signage, and promotional materials—aligning your brand with community, culture, and reconciliation in action. Together, we’ll make music a bridge for positive change.
There are only a handful of sponsorships left, and Kari would love the opportunity to discuss this with you and explore how we can harmonize our efforts to create a transformative experience for our community. Please feel free to reach out to Kari directly at (250)744-9657 or [email protected].
Thank you for considering this invitation to share the path forward with us.
With gratitude,
